Spiral Mesa Productions was established to further the production of screenplays by New Mexico writers. The company seeks to work in conjunction with other production companies.

Film production in New Mexico is supported by tax incentives and an ever-increasing infrastructure for film and television.

The name, Spiral Mesa Productions, was partially chosen because "the basic movement of energy in the universe is a wave-like spiral flow." (Keith Varnum)
